The Humanist Society of South Texas is an affiliate of the American Humanist Association, which describes humanism as “a progressive philosophy of life that, without theism and other supernatural beliefs, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity.”
Modern humanism, whether secular or religious, has a worldview and a set of principles that rely primarily upon reason and science, democracy, and human compassion. It offers a basis for moral values, an inspiring set of ideals, and an overall sense of purpose.
Our local group includes agnostics, freethinkers, atheists, and other seekers who enjoy discussing a wide range of topics – social, political, historical, philosophical – in the biweekly meetings.
