Tampa Bay Coalition of Reason Announces Darwin Day Celebration

Media Advisory

(Tampa, FL, February 2, 2016)

The Tampa Bay Coalition of Reason, in conjunction with Evolve Tampa are pleased to announce a Darwin Day celebration. Two of the world’s leading experts on animal behavior will provide insights into the basis of our own human behavior. Why do we get into such terrible trouble? What causes us to persist in patterns of behavior that threaten our very existence? Why are many of these same patterns the glory of our existence?

Each speaker will give a lecture on their topic and then there will be a panel discussion, with questions from the audience. Afterwards there will be a reception, with light refreshments, during which attendees can interact with the speakers and each other.

WHO:
Special guest speakers, Frans DeWaal and Dr. Deby Cassill.

In 2007 Time magazine listed Frans DeWaal as one of the world’s 100 most influential people. His insights into the origins of human behavior gained from his investigations into the origin and placement of humans in the biosphere mark him as a scientist  uniquely able to help us fully appreciate the meaning of being human.

Dr. Deby Cassill earned her doctorate in the study of ant behavior, and finding in it some unique connections to the underlying social life of humans and other cooperative forms of life.
