Reb Kitchings, Inland Empire CoR
Here’s an update on the Inland Empire CoR of California!
Recently the Inland Empire CoR staffed an outreach booth at the Redlands Market Night, in Redlands, California. I went to our booth to deliver new supplies. When I got there, the market was packed and we attracted lots of attention and photos. We made some multi-purpose business cards that we printed front and back to advertise each of our events, and these were received very well (they only cost us 4 cents each, so it was worth it seeing this kind of literature fly off the table as fast as we could put it out). I also had the beautiful UnitedCoR national brochure that UnitedCoR sent us and I wanted to get it out to the booth.
There is a lot of other excitement that is taking place in our CoR. We are starting a “Secular Sunday School” in October and when we have more information, we will let everyone know about this program. One of our members is taking the training program for Smart Recovery, and will eventually be able to start a local, Riverside Smart Recovery program for the community to offer a secular version of Alcoholics Anonymous. We are also going to begin a CPR training program with our medical professionals in the group this year in hopes that we will be able to sponsor a community wide program after we learn how to do it in our group.
UnitedCoR asked local groups to highlight local artistic talent and I’m hoping I can get our artists and musicians to come out and share their talents in amazing and wonderful ways. This is a hope for the future because I long for incorporating the arts and music into our community in some way. We’ll see what we have to work with when the time comes.
