Bleed & Feed

Consider donating blood on 9/11 with the Humanist Community of Central Ohio (HCCO). You are invited to join HCCO donors and sign up (or just show up) to donate from 4 – 6 at the Carriage Place Red Cross (Columbus) and then have dinner together. Another such event is scheduled for 11/6. These events build on HCCO's successful donation event at the beginning of the Secular Student Alliance (SSA) East Conference in July.

Skype with Nigerian Humanist, Leo Igwe

Mid Ohio Atheists (MOA) will hold a meetup on 9/13 in Ashland fetauring Leo Igwe. A Nigerian human rights advocate and humanist with a graduate degree in philosophy from the University of Calabar, Nigeria, Igwe will speak via Skype on Atheism in Nigeria. Igwe is a Research Fellow of the James Randi Educational Foundation. The event includes a group discussion afterwards, door prizes and refreshments (provided).

Ronald McDonald House Expansion Tour/Celebration

The Columbus Ronald McDonald House (RMH) is expanding from 80 to 137 guest rooms making it the largest in the world and is having an open house to celebrate. RMH provides housing and meals to out-of-town families with hospitalized children. Central Ohio United Non-Theists (COUNT) is celebrating completion of a year volunteering as housewarmers and invites you to nosh on complimentary refreshments, enjoy entertainment and tour the stunning rooftop garden, shiny new industrial kitchen, and expanded grounds on 9/14 from 1 – 4 PM. Adopt a Highway

MOA will be cleaning up two miles of highway near Mansfield on 9/13 (with rain date 9/14). COUNT will be helping HCCO clean up their two mile section of 270 North on 9/28 and will meet in Westerville. Sign up on the MOA, HCCO or COUNT meetup event pages.

Light The Night

Columbus CoR is following up last year's successful fundraising effort for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society with participation in this year's Light the Night Walk on 10/11 in Columbus. Donate directly on the Columbus CoR team page.

Halloween Costume Party

MOA promises a frightfully fun evening near Mansfield at their annual Halloween Costume Party on 10/25. RSVP, bring a $5.00 donation per person, a covered dish to share (BYOB) and enjoy food, scary movies, games, raffle and great conversations. A Halloween Costume Contest will have a prize for the best costume. As with all MOA events, canned goods/non-perishable items will be collected for Harmony House, the local homeless shelter, as well as items for the Humane Society of Richland County.

Flying Spaghetti Monster Benefit Dinner

Come help us feed hungry people in Central Ohio at the the 3rd annual Flying Spaghetti Monster Benefit Dinner on 11/6 which is hosted at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 West Weisheimer Road in Clintonville. This Columbus CoR event features a spaghetti dinner, bake sale, silent auction, raffle and entertainment to raise money and collect food donations for the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. Adult dinner $10, $5 for youngsters ages 14 and under (cash/check) with carry out available. Volunteers are needed in advance, during and following the event. Winter Solstice Party

MOA Will feature an ugly sweater/holiday shirt contest and white elephant gift exchange at their annual Winter Solstice Party near Mansfield on 12/13 and you are invited! RSVP, BYOB and bring a $5 donation per person. Items will be collected for the Humane Society of Richland County as well as for Harmony House.

HCCO, MOA and COUNT are members of the Columbus Coalition of Reason (CoR). SSA is a Friend of Columbus CoR.
