Nativity Lighting set for Thursday at R.I. State House

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The third annual Nativity Lighting is scheduled to start at 3 p.m. Thursday in the State House Rotunda.

Organizers Christopher and Kara Young, part of the Joy to the World Nativity Lighting Committee, said the lighting is meant to observe “the true meaning of Christmas,” the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

Lights will illuminate the baby Jesus in a manger.

The event, which will include the singing of Christmas carols, will last until 4:30 p.m.
