Starting Thursday October 15, 2015, a three-day Atheist Alliance of America Conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, two miles from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport. Non-theists will gather in “Hotlanta” to advocate for progressive values, support the development and advancement of humanist thought, support the separation of government and religion, encourage rational thought and scientific inquiry, and provide a safe environment where humanists, other non-theists and those who are open to the values of humanism can work together to move society forward with a firm reliance on reason and humanity.
Some of the featured speakers for the event are
– Dr. Jerry Coyne—the 2015 recipient of the Richard Dawkins Award, and professor in the Dept. of Ecology and Evolution and The University of Chicago.
– David Diskin—Coordinator of the Central Valley Coalition of Reason (www.centralvalleycor.org) and Coordinator of the Sacramento Freethought Day (www.freethoughtday.org)
– Mandisa Thomas—President of Black Nonbelievers, Inc. (https://blacknonbelievers.wordpress.com/) and Coordinator of the Atlanta Coalition of Reason (www.atlcor.org)
Full details regarding all speakers can be found at: http://atheistallianceamerica.org/conference/speakers.
Crowne Plaza Hotel Atlanta Airport, 1325 Virginia Avenue, Atlanta GA, 30344.
Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 5 p.m, through Sunday, October 18 at 1 p.m.
The conference is about realizing that our society, the world and our universe is a bigger, brighter and a more amazing place than ever imagined when viewed through the lens of humanism and non-theism. The conference provides an opportunity for non-believers to stand together and gives us a public voice, allowing us to reach out and connect with even more people who share our philosophy, and helps us continue the journey of building a strong and vibrant humanist community. When we discover that we’re not alone, we are encouraged to enthusiastically live lives in a way that reflects our values. What makes life for humanists, atheists and other non-believers so exciting is the infinite discoveries, unbounded by supernatural beliefs, that await to be revealed through reason, logic and open-minded curiosity.
More information about the conference can be found at www.atheistallianceamerica.org/conference/2015-overview.
The Atheist Alliance of America at www.atheistallianceamerica.org has a vision to transform society into one that supports and respects a worldview based on the values of reason, empiricism and naturalism, as well as to respect and protect the separation of religion and government.
The Atlanta Coalition of Reason at www.atlcor.org is made up of 12 atheist, freethought, and humanist groups working together in the Atlanta area.
