Topic: A Humanist Look at Myth, Symbol, and Art
Humanists who pride themselves in their rationality and common sense need to consider that myth, symbol, and art–as expressed through the rationally-organized story narrative–are among the most effective means known for communicating ideas. Whether present in a film, novel, play, poem, or song, a well-told story can affect the mind in a way no didactic lecture or philosophical argument usually can–and the idea so imparted will be more easily remembered. Come learn how humanists can tap into this great fount of inspiration and use it to more effectively transmit humanist ideas.
