Two groups have been added as members of the Columbus Coalition of Reason in October.
Atheists of Columbus is an open networking and social group for the Central Ohio area that was formed a few months ago. This group publishes their meetings (see their Events tab) and holds discussions using a Facebook page that already has over 100 members. The group has drawn students and out-of-towners less likely to attend meetings on “school nights” as well as local atheists and agnostics. Although they currently meet most Friday evenings at Surly Girl Saloon in the Short North Arts District in Columbus, they occasionally meet in Delaware on First Fridays to support the Humanist Community of Central Ohio when they are “tabling”, an outreach event to inform the public about secular resources.
The OWU Freethinkers are the Ohio Wesleyan University affiliate of the Secular Student Alliance. This dynamic student group hosts panel discussions and events that promote secular ideals. They welcome people of all faiths and beliefs and seek to understand faith by examining it with freethought, skepticism, rational thinking, and science. The group uses a web site and a Facebook page and often meets Fridays at noon in the Beeghly Library Cafe on the Ohio Wesleyan campus.
