The Iron Range Coalition of Reason will serve as a clearinghouse of information about local groups that provide a welcome for those who no longer follow a religion. It is part of the United Coalition of Reason, founded in 2009 and popularized by Fred Edwords
, with this dual goal: to increase (a) the visibility and (b) the status of non-theists: people who do not believe in a personal god that intervenes in human affairs.
The coalition will gather information on local non-theist groups and make it available on its website. It will maintain a calendar of upcoming events and host videos and other informative material. It will work to demonstrate to the wider community that people who do not believe in gods are nonetheless decent and caring neighbors.
The founding groups of this coalition are profiled here. Some of their members are atheists or agnostics or secular or humanist or something entirely different. What they share is a desire to spend time with like-minded people who value science and reason.
