Checking in with the Chicago CoR

Hemant Mehta

I had the opportunity to catch up with Chicago CoR Director, Hemant Mehta, to discuss recent events.  This group operates primarily off of a Listserv, so though they may keep a low web profile; they manage to bring in a wide range of events and activities to accommodate a variety of interests.

Secular comic, Ian Harris, visited Chicago during his last tour.  Members of the CoR were able to snag tickets at a discounted rate.  Conor Robinson of the Pathfinders Project visited in May, you may view the presentation here.  Local secular groups also worked together recently to organize a blood drive.  Hemant gave a lecture at a Freedom From Religion Foundation Chicago Chapter gathering.  Thanks to Tom Cara, President of the chapter for forwarding the link.

What is on the horizon for the windy city?  Hemant says that discussions are taking place to provide a bus system for Reason Rally 2016 that will take place in early June.  Such a charter could make the Washington DC venue within easy reach for those who would like to attend.  UnitedCoR’s Executive Director might even be stopping by to meet with local CoRs.
