Date: Sunday June 16, 2013
Summer Picnic
Time: 2:00 PM till dark
Where: Rock Creek park- Picnic Site 8
Directions: Picnic site 8 is roughly a mile north of Military Road on Beach Drive immediately south of Sherrill Drive. Beach Drive is closed south of Military Road and all other access to this segment of Beach Drive (including Sherrill Drive itself) are also closed on Sundays. Given that there are only two other picnic sites that can be reached after this one and there is no other traffic permitted there will be very little traffic noise or risk to children from traffic.
Please bring food and drink to share. Plates, cups and plastic ware will be provided. There is a fireplace and grill at this site. It is quite near the Rock Creek itself. There is room to play Frisbee, badmitten, volleyball or other games. We may bring some modest protection in the event of rain but there is no rain shelter at this site. Bathroom facilities are not located at this site but are available at a nearby site. Park rules say that we cannot have alcoholic beverages in the park. Let's hope for good to excellent weather and a very fun gathering.
