The Northeast Florida Coalition of Reason is an affiliate of the United Coalition of Reason. The First Coast Freethought Society (FCFS), Jacksonville Atheist Meetup Group (JAM), and Students for Free and Rational Thought have joined together to form this local coalition to raise the visibility of nontheists in our area and to promote cooperation among the individual groups.

The First Coast Freethought Society (FCFS) is a group of freethinkers dedicated to promoting science and reason over dogma, faith, and belief in the supernatural. Our purpose is to serve the needs of the nonreligious population of Northeast Florida, promoting secular humanism, and a non-theistic outlook and approach to everyday life.

The Jacksonville Atheists Meetup (JAM) was established as a safe haven for Jacksonville area atheists to come together and be among like minded people.

We are a group of around twenty high school and (some) college students based in Jacksonville, Florida. Most of are members are at Bartram Trail High School.  We have grown tired of the prevailing and often oppressive religious views of our area and have decided to take matters more into our own hands and to form a group for those people who feel Science, Atheism, and Free Thought are the logical and right course of belief. We were officially founded on August 28th, 2012, after several months of informal planning and discussion. Our first action was to begin planning a convention for May 2013, in an effort to grow awareness for science and reason, particularly for students and other young adults in our area.
