For Immediate Release

Subject: Atheist display at Sheriff Alderden's nativity scene.

Contact: Marvin Straus, cocore3@q.com, 303-494-4926

Who: The Colorado Coalition of Reason (COCORE), Leaders In Freethought (LIFT), & Sheriff John Alderden of Larimer County

When: Saturday, December 5th, 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon.

Where: Larimer County Administration Office at 2501 Midpoint Drive in Fort Collins.

What: Jeric Harper, president of LIFT, and Marvin Straus, COCORE, became concerned about separation of church and state issues after reading of Sheriff Alderden's plans to have a nativity scene display opened with a prayer service.

After a telephone conference call between Sheriff Alderden, Marvin Straus, and Bob Ritter, an attorney with the American Humanist Assoication, the sheriff agreed to allow a COCORE display. The display will be a sign, 2 feet high and 3 feet wide that says,

During this Winter Solstice season,
Illuminate your mind with reason.
Let friends and family warm your heart.
And celebrate that we all take part.
The Colorado Coalition of Reason.

Colorado secularists have been invited to join the display lighting.
